Where is La Novia del Atlántico located?

the Bride of the Atlantic. It is located in the North Region. It limits to the north with the Atlantic Ocean, to the south with the provinces of Santiago and Valverde, to the east with the province of Espaillat and to the west with Montecristi.

La Fortaleza de San Felipe 

Today, the San Felipe Fortress serves as a museum displaying the important role it has played in the history of Puerto Plata and the Dominican Republic. Its construction was commissioned by King Philip II of Spain, and was completed in 1577 by Rengifo de Angulo, the fort's warden. The fortress functioned as a prison on several occasions and the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte was there as a political prisoner on the orders of Pedro Santana.

It is considered one of the most important colonial military structures in the Caribbean, it was completed in 1577 and later served as a prison until the years of the dictator Trujillo. Today it is a museum displaying the original cannons facing the Atlantic, ancient weapons, and numerous secret chambers

Thousands of tourists visit this place every year in order to get to know the attractions and the unmissable views that this emblematic and unique place that you can visit in this area houses. Its construction was in charge of King Philip II of Spain and it was completed in 1577 by Mayor Rengifo de Angulo.



The Puerto Plata Lighthouse is made of cast iron and has a height of about 24.4 meters. It was restored in 2002 with a donation from the World Monuments Fund, as it is the only one of its kind that is still standing in the Caribbean.
Around you can see with the naked eye the moat that surrounds them and the famous lighthouse of Puerto Plata which is 24 meters high, a place where you can see beautiful landscapes and take the best photographs.
